W-9: “Where Sky and Earth Meet” by Kathleen Best Gillmann- Double Month Feature
Award-winning artist Kathleen Best Gillmann specializes in landscape paintings often featuring reflective water and brilliant or subtle skies. The paintings and pastels in this exhibit will bring together Ms. Gillmann’s love of light and shadow, and the colors reflected and refracted by water at ground level and above.
A native of New England, Ms. Gillmann grew up exploring and observing the natural world with close attention and delight. The mercurial qualities of weather, sunlight, and water to this day continue to stimulate her imagination and inspire her artwork. Ms. Gillmann shares “My goal is to embody my sense of wonder in our natural world through my paintings. It is my pleasure to share a bit of this awe-inspiring world with you.
When painting the landscape, the sky plays a significant role as the light influences everything it touches. Light, which has a wave and particle nature, does indeed touch what it illuminates. Thus, it makes sense to speak about the sky and earth meeting, physically . . . and poetically.”
