
Monthly Featured Artists
The Workhouse Arts Center has more than 70+ resident visual artists who occupy studios on campus, as well as a collective group of off-site artists who display their work in the Arches Gallery. Every month, in each building, the work of individual artists or a group of artists is featured in a special exhibition that runs for the entire month. During our Second Saturday art walks our featured artists (and many other studio artists!) are on campus to talk about their work and processes. And, if you love what you see, you can take it with you, as most art on campus is available for purchase!

W-6: “Wood Works” by Cameron Porter - April 10-May 4
"Wood Works" by Cameron Porter highlights the versatility and beauty of wood through innovative sculptures. Known for his multidisciplinary background, Porter combines sustainability and creativity, often upcycling reclaimed wood to craft dynamic, textured works. On view at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, from April 10 – May 4, 2025.
W-10: “Secret life of Grant Baudoin”- April 12 - May 9
Grant Baudoin’s "Secret Life" unveils the unseen creative journey behind his watercolor works. Through daily artistic discipline and personal growth, his paintings reflect a deep commitment to self-improvement and inspiration for future generations. W-9: “Tangled Up in Blues” by Laura Bruce - Double Month Feature. April 12 - May 10
Laura Bruce’s "Tangled Up in Blues" is more than an exhibition—it’s an immersive journey into the depth and rhythm of blue. Through layered textures and shifting hues, her work explores the tension and tranquility within the color’s endless variations. W-6: “INTERSTICES – GAPS OF THE WORLD” by Amy Bruce. February 8th- March 8th
"INTERSTICES – GAPS OF THE WORLD" by Amy Bruce is a visual exploration of life's defining moments through double exposure photography. Capturing the intensity of transition, loss, and transformation, Bruce’s work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find solace in the spaces between. On view from February 8 – March 8 at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA.
W-6: “Honor To Our Ancestors” by Fetun Getachew
"Honor To Our Ancestors" by Fetun Getachew is a stunning exhibition celebrating Ethiopian culture through rich layers of acrylic paint and mixed-media textures. Influenced by the spiritual and everyday beauty of Ethiopia, Getachew’s work invites viewers to explore the intersection of tradition and modernity. Experience this captivating tribute at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, from January 4 – February 1, 2025, with an opening reception on January 11.
W-9: “My Thoughts, Your Thoughts” by Donald Cicconi- Double Month Feature
Donald Cicconi’s "My Thoughts, Your Thoughts" challenges viewers to find their own meaning in his abstract, subconscious-driven artwork. With no set message, each piece invites personal interpretation, making the viewer an integral part of the experience. Visit Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, from Dec 14 – Feb 1, 2025, and share your thoughts at the interactive exhibition. Opening reception on Dec 14.
W-5: “I Spy” by Denise Shamoun Phalan
Denise Shamoun Phalan’s "I Spy" explores the art of observation through vivid oil paintings. With dynamic color and thoughtful compositions, Phalan directs the viewer’s eye to moments of quiet beauty and hidden narratives. W-6: “Recent Work” by Alison Landry
Alison's work is rooted in the rich tradition of figurative realism. Her paintings range from loose and expressive sketches to work that is more carefully studied and resolved, yet still painterly.
W-7: "Musings of an Eclectic Fuser" by Deb Eldredge
This collection is an expression of the meditative, sometimes spiritual, sometimes wayward, pilgrimage of a dilettantish fuser.

W-8: “Wall Works” by Visiting Artist Rebecca Hutchinson
Rebecca Hutchinson’s work focuses on the respect for process and the endless influences found in nature.
W-10: "Untraditional and Unique” by Jackson Tanner
This work was produced by hand using the physicality I have to use with the use of basic painting tools; neither automated presses, nor were pneumatic processes utilized.
W-6: “Works in Wood” by Cameron Porter
In Cameron Porter’s opinion, Wood is the most versatile and innately beautiful medium. It is flexible, yet strong. It can be easily carved, bent, cut, and shaped with imagination as the only limit.
W-7: "Curls and Swirls" by David Barnes
Bringing the brilliance, color, and dimension of art glass together with the art of design forms an exciting visual experience full of visions, impressions, and memories. Exhibited works explore the interaction of movement, structure, and color.
W-5: “Elsewhere” by Michele Montalbano
Michele Montalbano paints invented landscapes that focus on everyday escapism. A California native, Michele grew up outdoors, inherently drawn to nature. Her recent body of work depicts a world that honors nature’s beauty and provides hope and a momentary escape from a chaotic, ever-changing world—for the artist and the viewer.
W-9: “Carol’s Creations” by Carol Mather- Double Month Feature
Carol Mather’s work is a mixture of both abstract and natural. Carol is still on a journey of exploring colors and their variety of applications.
W-5: “Just Because” by Lynn Goldstein
Lynn Goldstein's current exhibition, "Just Because," is inspired by a profound shift in her artistic journey from representational work to abstraction. This transformation reflects Goldstein's fascination with the beauty of nature and the passage of time.
W-7: "Melt" by Sandi Martina
Glass artist Sandi Martina plays mad scientist creating various glass formations featured in this sizzling exhibit.
W-6: “Water, Water Everywhere!” by Gwendolyn Bragg
Gwendolyn hopes these paintings express her pleasure in the beauty of water and appreciation for the life it supports and symbolizes.
W-10: "Wandering...off the beaten path” by Tim Grant
