Background
Jessica was raised on the East coast and attended the Savannah College of Art and Design, after which she moved to Colorado with her military husband. After multiple deployments, they decided to move on from the Army and settle in the Bay Area where they soon had their daughter. After the pandemic and navigating some health issues surrounding her daughter, they felt it was best to move back to the East Coast and currently reside in VA. Her work is heavily influenced by the spirituality she found in response to her own mental health struggles, as well as the emotional depth she found in motherhood.
Philosophy
Jessica started out as an abstract painter until the pivotal moment of moving across the country and becoming pregnant. Motherhood proved to bring about a radical, spiritual change in Jessica and served to inspire this new line of work that is much more detailed and meaningful than ever before. Her new found depth is easily, and literally, seen in the transformation from her large, abstract shapes to her current paintings which are now ripe with fine detail, nuance, and her newfound light. Her work is a personal evolution and exploration which ties in themes of astrology, animism, and more.
Jessica’s current work has been featured in many local shows and businesses in the Bay Area and continues to gain steady traction. It has been seen in magazines catering to interior designers as well as featured in multiple city-wide art exhibit events. Her past work has been shown in group exhibits in Georgia, California, Colorado, in online galleries, and in juried shows in the Midwest. Her work can also be found in many private collections, including international patrons, and she has done many collaborations with other artists over the years. These collaborations have been shown primarily in Georgia, California, and Colorado.
